Artist Statement: 
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” - John 14:27
 
In the eight years I’ve been a mother, my children’s lives on earth have crossed paths with horrendous tragedies. Pandemics, wars, political unrest, massacres of children and innocents, and more. Someone recently commiserated with me saying “what are we doing, raising kids in this world?” Honestly, I don’t know. My heart sinks to know my daughters and son will continue to see worse in their lifetimes, as all of us have.
 
Yet in spite of all this, the Savior’s plea to us is to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid. Somehow through the thick fog of anger and sadness he continues to send his peace. It is a small glimmer, but he asks us to hold it in our hearts and allow it to grow. It leads us to action. To reach out to each other. That is what I will teach my children. Even when there is great despair and a feeling of hopeless dread in the air, we can take our Savior’s love and push it forward into the world. We can be the light and comfort and action others need desperately.
