Artist Statement:
The divine desire and capacity to create are inherent in both women and men. We are co-creators, each endowed with distinct gifts and abilities for a sacred purpose. Yet creation in Christian art has often been depicted through a predominantly male lens. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the Great Creator and that He participated in the creation of the earth. I believe that Heavenly Mother also played a vital role in the creation of our spirits and in works beyond our current comprehension. Women are powerful creators, and our ability to create is not incidental but divine. When understood this way, the partnership between husband and wife reflects the eternal relationship of our Heavenly Parents.
