1752 Sir Hans Sloane secured 160 Egyptian atiquities for the British Museuam. This in turn kicked off a frenzy of ancient Egyptian enthusiasm, across England. Discoveries of mummies, temples, statuary, and pyramids, sparked the imagination and acquisiton of many antiquities into private Brittish collections. The scarab amulets were found protecting the hearts of many mummies. The dung beetle was associated with rebirth and resurrection, as these beetles roll their eggs into a ball of dung. The ball is rolled across the ground by both parents, yes they work together to roll and shape it. The scarab was also believed to protect the dead as they made their journey through death, thus why it was found in tombs.
