Artist: Christina Sandholtz
Title: Grasshopper Specimen
Medium: Collaged gelli printed paper and watercolor
Size: 10x10 in.
Artist Statement:
My reference for this piece is a specimen of grasshopper hanging at The Thanksgiving Point Butterfly Biosphere Museum. I wanted to portray an insect specimen for this Cabinet of Curiosity show as I felt it fit the theme well: something small and fascinating but something that I also find a little macabre: a pin sticking right through something once living! You can see I’ve included a real pin sticking though the middle of my own art.
