Artist Statement: 
This piece deals with the struggles of an LGBTQ person who has to learn to find themselves, accept who they are, accept that God loves that person, and embrace life as themselves. This journey is complicated by societal expectations, who the world expects a person to be, who a religion expects them to be, who their family expects them to be, and the shaming that comes when the LGBTQ individual starts their journey and meets with resistance from those within their circle of influence. This piece is about that breakthrough moment when they can finally be happy with who they are and start living the happy life they deserve.
