Artist Statement:
“Flocks By Night” is an original hand-carved linocut print of the shepherds who hastened to visit baby Jesus shortly after His birth. The brightest star guided them as they travelled over fields to find the precious newborn baby. I can imagine them hurrying along with their sheep and keeping their eyes on the star in the sky so they would not get lost.
Each print begins as a hand-carved linoleum block. The design is carefully inked, then pressed by hand onto fine art paper, making every impression unique with its own subtle texture and character. This process gives the piece a timeless, handmade quality that digital reproductions can't replicate.
