Artist Statement: 
 
When I first heard the song Rest in Me by The King Will Come, one line stayed with me long after the music ended. It reminded me that Christ doesn’t simply help us cope with our brokenness—He has the power to make us whole.
This painting uses the imagery of kintsugi, the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, as a symbol of the Savior’s healing. Our scars and struggles are real, but they do not define our worth or our future. Through Jesus Christ, what was fractured can be restored with greater beauty and purpose.
As the woman looks upward in prayer, she represents the moment we surrender our broken pieces to the One who can do what we cannot. My hope is that anyone who sees this painting will remember that because of Christ, brokenness is not the end of their story. He invites each of us to lay down our burdens and simply rest in Him.
