Artist Statement:
The Three Marys belong to a Christian, specifically Catholic, tradition that honor 3 women who surrounded Christ and contributed to his ministry. 
In the New Testament, Mary was a very common name and several are mentioned with tied to Christ and his ministry. 
The three Marys traditionally named at his crucifixion in particular are Mary Magdalene (María Magdalena), Mary mother of Christ (María Madre de Dios), Mary of Cleophas (María de Cleofás). 
In this piece I hold dear and find value in the women my Catholic ancestors in Chile would have adored and found strength in as we look to the examples of faith of these devout disciples of Christ.
