Artist Statement: 
This piece is inspired by the account of Christ’s ascension in Acts 1. After teaching those gathered, Jesus ascended. In this geometric design, working from one found in J. Bourgoin’s Arabic Geometrical Patterns and Designs, the shapes and colors of the pattern symbolically tell the story. Jesus the rising star in gold. Red symbolizing the earth, blue and yellow symbolizing the divine and light.
