About the event
Join us at The Compass Gallery for a hands-on watercolor workshop centered on one of Utah’s most extraordinary native insects: the Western Hercules beetle (Dynastes grantii). Local artist and entomologist Heath Ogden will guide attendees through versatile watercolor techniques useful for capturing a wide range of natural subjects, from plants to animals and beyond. We welcome participants of all experience levels.
As we paint, we will also explore the biology, ecology, and fascinating natural history of this remarkable species. The workshop brings together art and science in a way that reflects The Compass Gallery’s love of storytelling, symbolism, and deeper attention.
Perfect for artists, nature lovers, students, and the simply curious, this workshop offers a unique chance to learn from a practicing artist and scientist in an intimate gallery setting.
