Watch Horror: Dark Entries

For this third lecture and discussion, we will watch opening sequences from "The Mummy" and Gore Verbinski's "The Ring (20020", Looking at how these films follow this industry pattern. We'll look at influences ranging from Weimar-era German expressionism, to slasher films and remakes to see how the horror film continually revies itself and engages with teh things that scare us. Jonathan will offer a short presentation to lay the groundwork, and then the bulk of our time will be open to roam the landscape wherever you, the audience, would like to explore.
