- Sacred Canopies | The Compass Gallery
Shari Lyon celebrates the Divine feminine through world mythologies and the symbolism of trees. Sacred Canopies New encaustic work celebrating the Divine feminine. Shari Lyon November 1st- 23rd, 2024 In my art, I often explore the spiritual connection between trees and the divine feminine. Trees with their deep roots and reaching branches, symbolize the strength, nurturing qualities, and wisdom often associated with the feminine. Through my paintings, I seek to capture the power of nature and its relationship to the sacred feminine. Inspired by myths, legends, and the natural world, this work is a visual exploration of the symbolic significance of trees as they relate to spirituality and the Divine Feminine. - Love is Always the Answer | The Compass Gallery
New and classic ceramic work by Ben Behunin. Love is Always the Answer New and classic love themed ceramic work. Ben Behunin February 7th - March 1st, 2025 Artist talk: February 28th, 7 pm Over the past few years, my work and the general themes thereof have largely evolved to focus on the virtues and details of Love. We need Love as human beings. Love is both fuel and motivation for our best selves. Love wakes us up to something larger than ourselves and allows us to see our place in an infinitely bigger picture, while teaching us—if we’re humble enough to receive it—that even our meager contributions to the larger whole can, will and does have an impact on the greater society. Love is healing and edifying, elevating all who touch it to a higher realm of purpose, understanding, hope and light. Because of its nearly eternal nature, the history of the world as we know it, has largely been recorded on the surface of fired clay. As a potter, knowing that my work, in one form or another will long outlive me, I have felt a responsibility to share my understanding of eternal truths, not only for the present, but also for the future generations that might discover the shards of my pottery as they piece together an understanding of what was important to our generation. Despite Love’s endless competitors for the hearts and attention of mankind, Love, and its many meaningful and enhancing support staff will always humbly and quietly rise above the din and ashes of alternative motivators. It’s been said that we become what we think about all day. In a world where we are bombarded by narcissistic and selfish messages that too often lead us away from eternal truths, I believe we need to surround ourselves with alternative reminders of life’s most important ideals. No matter the question or problem, ultimately Love is always the answer. The inventory for this exhibit is still being uploaded. You can purchase the currently listed pieces now, but check back after 6pm MST, 02/07 for additional items. - PowHERful The Compass Gallery
A celebration of women's influence and leadership. PowHerful Call for Submissions! A sovereign woman turns to God, trusts her personal revelation, and stands by it. Rooted in her understanding of her divine nature, she embraces sovereignty not as separation, but as sacred self-authorship and authority—of mind, body, spirit, and story. Her sovereignty does not conflict with her discipleship; it reveals and deepens it. As a follower of Christ, she perceives the holy interconnectedness of all God’s children, labors to build Zion, and exercises her agency to become ever more like her Heavenly Parents, even as she fulfills the measure of her creation. - J. Kirk Richards | Writ & Vision
J. Kirk Richards Visual artist/teacher/aspiring egalitarian Joel Kirk Richards is a contemporary artist whose work engages with themes of antiquity, religion, spirituality, equality, and love. His work asks questions about modern application and implementation of religion as it relates to historical narratives and mythologies. The work often prioritizes the poetry of religious text over dogma or historical accuracy. Stylistically it often bridges or walks a tightrope between classical and abstract expression. From 1999 to 2022, Kirk created about 2300 physical works of art, most of which can be found in private collections throughout the United States. His images have been licensed for devotional and religious studies publications internationally. - Woman With Eagle Wings | The Compass Gallery
Woman With Eagle Wings Inspired by the liberated expression of the High Gothic period, Woman With Eagle Wings reimagines Revelation 12 as Heavenly Mother’s heroic journey, where she rises in divine strength to defeat the dragon. Brooke Bowen emphasizes that it is through nurturing, peacemaking, and community-building that the Kingdom of God is truly established. Brooke Bowen May 2nd- May 31st, 2025 Inspired by the liberated artistic expression of the High Gothic period when artists began expanding scriptural narratives through personal interpretation and thoughtful symbolism, I felt emboldened to tell the story of Revelations 12 as the Heroine’s journey of our Heavenly Mother. The scriptural account begins with “a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.” Looking for a place to bear her child, she is pursued by a dragon. The dragon is there, ready to consume the woman and her children. After receiving eagle wings, Heavenly Mother rises valiant and undaunted, and defeats the dragon. In a world that has become consumed with power, conquest, and greed, to me the primary antidote is the work women, endowed with divine feminine power, intuitively lead out in– community building, nurturing, peacemaking, and creating safe spaces for the Kingdom of God to be built in every heart. Collectively leaning into the Feminine Divine, something Jesus was so attuned to during His earthly ministry, is truly the only way to defeat the dragon.
