This series poses a quiet question: what would it look like if temple recommend interviews felt more Christ-like? Alongside the artist's revised versions of the questions, these paintings hold space for both the value of the interview process and the real discomfort some feel within it. This show is meant to explore different ideas and perspective leading to the conclusion that our worth before God is never in question.
If I Could Write The Worthiness Questions…
This new artwork explores a thought experiment: “How can we make the temple recommend questions more Christ-like?” Look for my revised questions next to their respective paintings. Of course, it is the prerogative of authorized Church leaders to make changes when they are inspired to. For those who’ve never had a second thought about worthiness questions, I hope this show will lead to greater understanding of friends and family who don’t like the interview process. My attempt at revising the questions has limitations. There may never be a perfect set of questions for everyone. I conclude in the end: no matter our circumstances, our worth is precious and undiminished in the eyes of God.
