Artist Statement:
Saint Joanna is commonly known as myrrhbearer, as she attended to Christ's tomb to anoint his body and was thus a first witness to his empty tomb. She was highly involved in Christ's ministry as financial support and as council. In this painting she is holding a rolled piece of cloth that was once used to cover the body of her Savior, and around her the Myrrh tree branches bloom.
