Artist Statement: 
From the moment she was called to be the Mother of the Savior, Mary willingly took on an unprecedented mission despite having to navigate a path that conflicted with her community, culture, and even religious laws. She had to trust in her personal faith and individual relationship with God above all else. Surely this personal sovereignty and confidence in her own mission helped to see her through the excruciating treatment and death of her child. While many many people loved and continue to love Christ, Mary was alone in her maternal connection to the savior. This piece is dedicated to all the mothers who cling to their suffering children.
