Artist Statement:
Has there been anything that just stays on your mind? Like no matter how many prayers are said, no matter what you think about, no matter how you read the scriptures, or fast, or do what you’re supposed to do, it won’t go away? On my mission, I had an ongoing trial that was constantly on my mind. It felt like I was incessantly pulling thorny weeds from my brain, and no matter what I tried, spiky green leaves sprouted. I combed my fingers through my mind whenever these unwanted thoughts arrived, plucking them out like weeds. It was a tiring time. This illustration is a reflection of that difficult period, and a quiet nod to anyone who has tried running away from a secret burden.
