A woman is given an impossible task. Spin this straw into gold. Bring water in this sieve. Do all the housework and still get to the ball. When she weeps, it is a turning point in the story. The straw is turned to gold. She fills the holes in the sieve with clay. Fairy godmother shows up. "Weeping is an acknowledgment of the helplessness of the conscious personality. Such an admission opens you up to guidance from the unconscious," writes Lisa Marchiano in her book Motherhood: Facing and Finding Yourself.
