Title: Teaching Them To See
Media: Original Medium Format Film
Size: 30x38 in
Artist Statement:
This piece emerged from deep reflection on a woman’s role in uplifting others and extending care to those in need. Women possess unique abilities that allow them to reach individuals in profound and meaningful ways. As nurturers, they have the daily opportunity to lift and guide those they encounter. Yet, paradoxically, women are often self-critical, struggling to recognize their own value and potential in shaping humanity.
This work explores the idea that each small act of kindness, care, and love contributes to a woman’s tapestry of service, whether or not she perceives its significance. The blossoms and poppies symbolize the passage of life and death, illustrating how this tapestry is woven together over a lifetime. The red thread serves as a symbol of the Savior, Jesus Christ, who is intricately present in every act of service we offer.
Through this piece, I hope to inspire women to see their worth and recognize their capacity to bring others to Christ through even the smallest, seemingly insignificant acts of love and service.
