Artist Statement:
I have been think a lot about Motherhood lately. About how scary it could be. How terrifyingly wonderful would it be for our first mother, and her rambunctious little boy Cain? We often forget (or simply forgot to realize) that the age old villains, both biblical and modern, were once little children . . . They ate bugs and watched deer . . . They tripped and scraped their knees . . . And they once had a mother. They still do. This illustration is a reflection of what it means to be an imperfect, human mother of imperfect, human children.
