Artist Statement:This woman is an example of letting the light of Christ shine through her. I chose to paint a portrait of her and include in her dress photos significant to her life. She is a living testimony of what God can do through us. She came from a poor family in Kenya where her mother raised her and her 7 siblings alone when their father passed. Through the support of her Mom and her own determination she went to school, and college and currently has a PHD.She also raised two children alone when her husband took a second wife. She became a “widow of the living” and said that everyday she prayed that God would help her and he did. She got enough money to feed her kids, help them serve missions, and she built her own home. She is clothed in God’s glory because he gave her and all of us the ability to rise above the most difficult and soul crushing circumstances. Her faith in God gave her strength to overcome. She is clothed in God’s glory through her decisions to push on, love and serve. Her life is a testament of God’s power and that he glorifies and refines us through our challenges.
