Artist Statement: 
The labor of our mother isn’t invisible. The labor of our mother is everywhere, if you care to look and see, the pieces stitched together to make the whole and the seeds planted and nurtured. 
I wonder how much of her labor is stolen. We are taught to give glory to God, is she not God? Can we not recognize the glory of her labor? Women’s labor being invisible, stolen, devalued, patronized, and dismissed is the oldest tradition. 
If our mother makes us a quilt, I imagine each piece being a work she’s done for us. And if you can look to see, it’s there. And the men who think they own her name don’t see because it’s just a quilt. And that’s women’s work.
