Artist Statement:
I’m portraying two climatic moments of our eternity, that ultimately come together as the single greatest moment... Adam and Eve (us), and their redemption. Christ in gethsemane, and when He redeemed them (us). My purpose of the symbolic shape placement is to provoke thought and meditation. •The outer circle and the square: when put together represent heaven and earth coming together. •Two circles conjoined: Is a symbol of two becoming one, and coming together in the act of creating something... a new shape in the middle called the “vesica piscis”, which traditionally has been seen as a symbol of Christ, and creation; in that you now have the means of creating an eternal pattern. A single circle represents the individual,“...independent in that sphere in which God has placed it.”(Doctrine and Covenants 93:30). Alone we can do nothing, but when joined in Christ through covenant, we become something new and greater. •The Star of David: Is the symbol of covenant, “And this is mine everlasting covenant, that when thy posterity shall embrace the truth, and look upward, then shall Zion look downward, and all the heavens shall shake with gladness, and the earth shall tremble with joy..”(JST, Gen. 9:22) two triangles reaching up and down. Progression to the presence of God. Combined with this symbol is 6 days of activity around a central “Sabbath” day of rest. “7” meaning quite literally “Zion”,“Sabbath”, “Completion.”
