Artist Statement:
Sometimes there seems to be a tendency to dismiss women after a certain age but society shouldn’t dismiss them. Mature women hold life experience, confidence, strength, patience. wisdom and lots of love to give. They have been through difficult decisions to be made, tragedies, loss, suffering and any who survive that are strong and beautiful. Especially the ones that continue to smile. This is Sharon, I don’t know her. She was accompanying her husband one evening when he was being honored for his military service. But I thought she looked beautiful and had a sparkle in her eye and should be celebrated so she agreed to let me take her picture.
