Artist Statement: Architecturally and symbolically, the octagon is the shape that provides a transitional bridge between square and circle, earth and heaven. Here the three octagons represent three generations, the past and the future acting as guardian angels of those living. The patterns within the octagons are expansions of a motif known in the Islamic world as the "Seal of Solomon."
