Artist Statement: 
Inspired by ancient Greek mythology as well as Gollum's caves in Lord of the Rings, this fabric painting explores a dryad, rooted in rock, lost in a cave, finally able to reach out to a beam of light that brings fresh life. The fabric is gathered from others' project remnants while secondhand embroidery thread adds texture and dimension. By using scrap fabric deemed too small for practical use, I hope to create art that brings life back to unwanted pieces and transforms them into something meaningful and whimsical.
