Artist Statement: A fictional character, but nonetheless a symbolic figure for the complexity of womanhood. In versions of her story, she lives alone, in others with nymphs in a sisterhood. She is depicted as the villain in some stories and as a trusted ally and help in others. Depicted as jealous, depicted as merciful, a witch, a temptress, a friend, a lover. In all her versions she is fierce and decisive. She is a lioness and a pantheon to the reality of being a woman; complex, powerful, and transient.
