Artist Statement:
Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was a Hungarian princess known for her deep faith and extraordinary charity. Married at a young age, she used her royal position to care for the poor, founding hospitals and personally tending to the sick. According to tradition, when she was secretly bringing bread to the hungry and was confronted and questioned about what she carried, the bread miraculously turned into roses—interpreted as a divine sign protecting her charitable work and affirming that her acts of mercy were blessed by God. Widowed early, she embraced a life of humility and service until her death at age 24, and she was later canonized for her compassion and devotion.
